Ambassador Scholarship Award Program

In the past five years, the program has given over $300,000 in educational scholarships to over 150 Latino students residing in the Little Village and surrounding communities.  Last year, the program was successful in awarding 30 scholarships.

The Ambassador Scholarships program awards students, currently enrolled at a four-year University or Community College for the 2007-2008 school year term.  Awards are also given to graduating high school seniors continuing their education for the fall term of 2007.
We invite you to participate in one of the most motivating and inspiring Chamber events, by giving a monetary contribution. 

The “2007 Ambassador Scholarship Luncheon” will be taking place on August 14, 2007 at Mi Tierra Restaurant
located at 2528 S. Kedzie Ave., 60623.

The Chamber is committed to reinvest in the future of the Latino community by contributing to higher education in our youth, our scholarship recipients pass through a rigorous application and they are truly deserving of our assistance.  We’re kindly asking that you to support our foundation.

For the past twelve years, the Chamber and its constituents have had the privilege to honor and recognize the people who have contributed to the success of Little Village.
May 2, 2007 at Navy Pier, the Chamber honored the First Hispanic President of the Illinois Judges Association, Jesse G. Reyes. In addition, two community leadership awards were presented to the Alderman of the 12th Ward, George Cardenas and Alderman of the 22nd Ward, Ricardo Muñoz.
The Chamber was honored to have Illinois Supreme Court Justice, Anne Burke, who introduced the Civic Awardees.
Special thanks to Zoraida Sambolin anchor at NBC 5 Chicago, who hosted the Cinco de Mayo Gala Awards Banquet as the Master of Ceremonies.

En los pasados doce años, la Cámara y sus directivos han tenido el privilegio de honrar y reconocer a la gente que ha contribuido al éxito de La Villita.
El 2 de mayo de 2007 en Navy Pier, la Cámara honró al Primer Presidente Hispano de la Asociación de Jueces de Illinois, Jesse G. Reyes. Además, dos reconocimientos a líderes de la comunidad fueron presentados, al Concejal del 12vo. Distrito, George Cardenas y al Concejal del 22vo. Distrito, Ricardo Muñoz.
La Cámara se vio honrada al tener a Anne Burke, de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de Illinois, quien presentó los reconocimientos cívicos.
Damos las gracias especialmente a Zoraida Sambolin, locutora de NBC 5, como Maestra de Ceremonias del Banquete de Gala del Cinco de Mayo.

Próximos Talleres y Seminarios:

• 2do. Taller – Guía para Iniciar un Negocio – Taller enfocado a darle a conocer, de forma general, los pasos iniciales para comenzar o ampliar su negocio – 2 Sesiones.
• Seminario: La Clave para el Éxito de su Negocio – Guía detallada para establecer un negocio: a) Antes de abrir, b) Estudio de mercado, c) Análisis financiero, d) Plan de negocios, e) licencias y permisos – 4 Sesiones.
• Taller: Financiamiento para Iniciar o Ampliar su Negocio – Pasos, requisitos y procedimientos para obtener un financiamiento – 1 Sesión.
• ¿Cómo Registro mi Negocio y Obtengo una Licencia Empresarial? – Determine la estructura de su negocio: “Propietario Único”,”Sociedad Limitada”,”Sociedad con Responsabilidad Limitada LLP”,”Corporación S”,” Corporación C”, etc. – 1 Sesión.
• Seminario: Iniciativa Empresarial de Cuidado Infantil – Herramientas necesarias para establecer un negocio de Cuidado Infantil – 4 Sesiones.

The Little Village Chamber of Commerce hosted for the first time its Cinco de Mayo Festival “Fiesta de Mayo” at Plaza Garibaldi / 26th Street and California Avenue.
During May 4-5-6 families of Little Village and surrounding neighborhoods had the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate with their families and friends.
Lots of typical Mexican delicious food, carnival games and activities, live music with local and Chicagoland area groups, groups from Mexico that came specially to perform for their fellow countryman, lots of crafts and most of all, three days of amazing fun.

La Cámara de Comercio de La Villita fue anfitrión por primera vez del Festival del Cinco de Mayo “Fiesta de Mayo” en la Plaza Garibaldi / Calle 26 y Avenida California.
Durante los días 4-5-6 de mayo, familias de La Villita y barrios circundantes tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar y celebrar junto con sus familias y amigos.
Mucha comida típica y deliciosa de México, juegos y actividades de carnaval, música en vivo de grupos locales y del área de Chicago, grupos de México que vinieron especialmente para presentarse con sus compatriotas, muchas artesanías y sobre todo, tres días de mucha diversión.

13th Annual Fiesta Mexicana Golf Classic
13va. Fiesta Anual Mexicana de Golf Clásico

Members, friends, guests and the Chamber of Commerce enjoyed a beautiful day out and participated in 18 holes of golf, lots of food and drinks, prizes, music, entertainment and fun during the 13th Annual Fiesta Mexicana Golf Classic at Carriage Greens Country Club last June 5, 2007.
We want to thank you for your participation and donations for the Chambers event; it turned out to be an enjoyable and exiting day, a great success. Thank You!

Miembros, amigos, invitados y la Cámara de Comercio disfrutaron de un día hermoso y participaron de 18 hoyos de golf, mucha comida y bebidas, premios, música, entretenimiento y diversión durante la 13va. Fiesta Anual Mexicana de Golf Clásico en el Carriage Greens Country Club el pasado 5 de junio de 2007.
